WHY FIBERGLASS?

Glass reinforced plastic (fiberglass) material is durable, weatherproof and maintenance-free. At the fraction of the weight of precast products, the lightweight fiberglass designs allow for easy installation with less equipment and labor. Additionally, fiberglass will not rot, corrode, warp, contract, expand, rust, dent, bow, shrink, twist, fade, blister, split, crack, deteriorate or distort.

WHAT IS A FLUME?

A flume can best be described as a specially shaped section of open channel. The flume provides a change in channel area and/or slope that results in an increased velocity and change in the level of the liquid flowing through the flume. Flumes are typically constructed in three sections: a converging section, a throat section and a diverging section. The flow rate through a flume is determined by the liquid level flowing through the flume at a given point. There are many types of flumes and variations of flume types. The most commonly used flumes are the Parshall Flume, the Palmer Bowlus Flume, the H-Flume, and the Trapezoidal Flume.

WHAT IS A METERING MANHOLE?

Manufactured as a total flow monitoring solution, the one-piece design can be supplied with any type of flume or flow measurement weir integral to the structure. Metering Manholes are available with a hinged domed cover, or a H-20 cover for installation in traffic areas.
